我校艺术馆于1986年10月建成开馆。艺术馆馆藏由书法、国画、陶瓷和民间工艺四部分组成。其中包括吴作人、启功、沈鹏、刘大为、刘炳森、董寿平、陆俨少、张仃、欧阳中石、韩美林、徐北汀等著名艺术大师的书画珍品。
    艺术馆是我校人文素质教育的重要基地。艺术馆除展览收藏品外，还经常举办各种类型的艺术展览、笔会、现场教学等活动。艺术馆是我校艺术设计学院和美术爱好者进行教学的基地。每年入学教育，学校都组织新生参观艺术馆。通过艺术作品的鉴赏，不仅可以丰富师生的生活情趣，而且可以提高师生的文化艺术素养。
    我校艺术馆的建设，得到了广大书画家、工艺美术家及社会各界的大力支持。吴作人先生亲自为本馆题写了馆名。

    The Art Gallery of North China University of Technology was established and opened to the public in Oct. of 1986. Its collections include calligraphy. Chinese paintings. porcelain and works of folk arts and crafts. Some of the paintings and handwritings are works of famous art masters such as Wu Zuoren, Qigong, Shenpeng, Liu Bingsen, Dong Shouping, Lu Yanshao, Zhang Ting, Ouyang Zhongshi, Han Meilin, Xu Beiting, etc.
    The gallery, a place to lead students to discover aesthetic and intellectual achievememts of Chinese culture, hosts various sorts of art exhibitions from time to time in addition to displaying ist permanent collections. The gallery's exhibits are used in the teaching of many courses. The appreciation of the art objects not only adds pleasure to the life of students and theachers, but also helps enhance their artistic self-cultivation. The university holds many important cultural and artistic educational programs in the gallery. Freshmen are arranged to visit the gallery as a part of their post-entrance education.
    The establishment of the gallery has the hearty support of some well-known painters, calligraphers and masters of arts and crafts. The Chinese characters of "Art Gallery" are the great calligraphic master Wu Zuoren's autograph.
