College of Architecture has 2 departments: Architecture and Planning Department, Civil Engineering; 3 undergraduate disciplines: Architecture, Civil Engineering, City Planning; three master degree points: Structure Engineering, Architecture Design and Theory, Rocky Soil Engineering. The education system of Architecture and City Planning is five years, and the education system of Civil Engineering is four years. There are totally 1500 students.
The college has Architecture Engineering Laboratory center, Architecture Design Institute. The Architecture Engineering Laboratory center has Structure Engineering Laboratory, Mechanics Laboratory, and Construction Materials Laboratory, Architecture Model Room, Architecture Physics Laboratory. The college now has 52 staffs; the faculty comes form some famous university like Tsinghua University. 10 of them are professors, 13 of them are vice-professor, 15 teachers, 6 national level Registered Architects, 7 National level registered structural engineers, 6 doctor and post-doc. The faculty structure is very reasonable. They have higher theory and stronger experience.
The college pays more attention on the combination of the practice and research, and has completed many important program designs, and gains many prizes in the national or international competitions. The college also has made grate progress in the research of the Architecture technology of Chinese town; the research of the program energy saving; the research on city planning, traffic, and new construction materials, research on mechanical properties frame joints £¬research on micro-mechanical properties of materials, research on finite element structural analysis of composite materials. Taking architectural design as the core curriculum students are required to major in other common theoretic and basic professional curricula, and take part in a umber of practical instructed activities to qualify themselves as future architects. Besides, students are required to acquire a certain artistic culture, good intellect of space, and a creative thinking ability. Following a strict, realistic, vivid and vigorous teaching process, students, who successfully complete the prescribed credits, will be conferred upon a Bachelor¡¯s degree of architecture upon education, and then they may pursue further studies at a graduate school for a Master¡¯s degree or up to a doctoral degree, or choose to work in architectural design institutes, government departments, schools, research institutes, etc., engaging in design, management, teaching, research and other activities.
Program of Civil Engineering
This program aims to train civil engineering professionals with basic training an engineer would need and all-round development of morality, intelligence and physique, who, having preliminary abilities of application, research and development, can engage in structural design of civil engineering, construction and management. The fields suitable for the graduates of this program are: technical and engineering work or management in construction enterprises; civil engineering design in design institutes; management of capital construction in enterprises, institutions and relevant government functional departments; project quality control and building supervision in real estate enterprises, engineering constitution organizations; teaching and research, and the like.
COLLEGE OF ART DESIGN
College of Art Design offers the following three programs: Art Design, Industrial Design, and Advertising to about 1,200 full-time undergraduate students. The College has 40 teaching and administrative staff, of whom Master¡¯s or doctoral degree holders account for 80% and senior academic title holder¡¯s 75%, a very strong teaching force with a large proportion of excellent teachers on their prime of life with rich teaching and practice experience.
The College has the following teaching and experimental departments: Department of Art Design , Department of Industrial Design, and Department of Advertising, and Experiment Center of Art Design ,all being equipped with first-class modern teaching equipment and experiment conditions. The Experiment Center of Art Design includes a Pottery Art Studio, a Woodwork Studio, an Apple Computer Room,¡¡a Photography Studio, a Non-practical Editorial Room ,and an Advertisement Design Studio. The tenet of schooling of the College is to train high-level application-oriented professionals with both theoretical accomplishments and practical skills, and creative capabilities, who will be able to acclimatize themselves to the development of the new era.
Art Design
This program aims to train high-level application-oriented professionals with profound cultural and theoretical knowledge, high attainments of artistic creativity and great capability of art design, and lay a solid foundation for them to work in the fields of social media, information industry, commercial culture, product research and development departments, and cultural and art design institutions.
The program comprises the following courses: Environmental Art Design, Plane Design, and Product Design,¡¡enabling students to have a wide range of job opportunities, upon graduation, in environmental art design ,interior design art design, product art design ,furniture design, display and show design ,enterprise image masterminding and design, urban scenery design ,landscape design, advertisement design ,website design and others.
Industrial Design
The program aims to train high-level professionals of engineering with basic theoretical knowledge and application abilities in industrial design,¡¡who will be able to engage in molding design of industrial products ,show design ,corporate image design ,public environmental system design and research in enterprises and institutions.
The program is to train students both in basic theory and techniques and skills by integrating artistic attainments and engineering knowledge. Students of this major are expected to acquire good designing abilities of product molding,¡¡expression, evaluation ,structural analysis ,and project coordination ,as well as practical operation abilities and a wide range of adaptability to work and preliminary abilities of design and management of production processes and market analysis.
Advertising
The program is designed to train high-level advertising professionals with basic abilities of masterminding, creation, production, and release of modern advertisements, who will be able to engage in masterminding, creation , design and production of advertisements in advertising departments or advertising consulting firms , enterprises and institutions.
